George D. Green was a founder of Abstract Illusionism, an art movement that uses shadow and perspective to create depth and dimension. His piece Gateway Star gives a sense of the elements popping out at you as you feel pulled in through the center of the painting. He also uses a technique called impasto, where paint is built up thickly, often achieved by mixing paint with another medium like cold wax.
